    Accountability System 2005-2013 – Academic Performance Index

    The Academic Performance Index (API) is a numeric index, or scale, ranging from a low of 200 to a high of 1000 that reflects a school’s or a district’s performance level based on the results of statewide testing.  The state API target has been 800. The Growth API report shows how well school districts and schools have met the accountability requirement of the Public Schools Accountability Act (PSAA) of 1999.  The Growth API reports were based on the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program results of the California Standards Test (CST), California Modified Assessment (CMA), California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA), and California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).

     Due to the efforts of the students, parents, board members, community members, teachers, and school staff Dublin, USD made great strides to continually improve our system by ensuring that every student demonstrates growth academically, socially and emotionally.  As a result, Dublin USD as a district has shown significant improvement in API scores.  
     
     
     
     
     New Accountability System

    With the adoption and implementation of state wide Common Core State Standards, in March of 2014, the State Board of Education (SBE) approved not to calculate the API for local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools for the 2014 and 2015 academic years. As a result, the 2014, 2015, and 2016 API reports have not been produced. 

    The SBE and the California Department of Education are in the process of developing a new accountability system to replace the API to better measure our State’s educational goals. The California State Board of Education affirmed state and local measures of progress for California’s new school accountability system. In addition to scores on standardized CAASPP tests in English and math, schools will be held accountable for students’ college and career readiness, proficiency for English learners, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism, suspension rates and school climate, basic conditions at a school, implementation of academic standards, and parent engagement.    

    The State Board of Education intends to adopt evaluation rubrics supporting the new accountability system in September 2016 so educators, parents and stakeholders have a clearer picture about how local schools are serving students.
